National Geographic, Your Shot, Resolutions to Travel, Editors' Favorites, February, 2018. Last year, I had the blessing of driving across the United States from coast-to-coast from North Carolina to California and back. One of the highlights was picking up the famous Mother Road, Route 66, in Oklahoma and riding it much of the way to the end of the route in California. I was pressed for time and nothing would please me more than having another chance at it - with ample time to meander and take in all the roadside treasures and oddities. This is truly an American treasure.
