NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC - YOUR SHOT

National Geographic, Your Shot, We are All Explorers, Editors' Favorites, February, 2018.  I love documentary photography because it gives me the chance to explore and immerse myself in new cultures. This image is one taken in a series of cowboy culture in the American South. I went to photograph a cowboy Rough Cut race through rugged trails. As I was photographing the competitors, I turned around and saw caught this scene of one of the most rugged cowboys known in these parts (an amputee) along with his partner taking a smoke break. He went on to win the whole event.
